HORSES. Out of state horses must have current health certificate.

Directions: Camp will be at Ponderosa
Trails (a commercial trail ride camp). From U.S. 71
south of Pineville: turn east on K highway. Ponderosa
Trails has a sign & there is a large sign on the corner with
a red buffalo and a sign that says Huckleberry Junction. On K,
it's about 1/2 mile till you turn RIGHT into Ponderosa. This is a
narrow road so use caution.
CAMP FEES: Camping
with electric hookups: $12.00 per trailer per night. Horses
are not allowed to be kept in this area except while being
saddled! Horses must be kept in camp stalls. Some larger stalls
available! ($11.00 for the length of your stay.)
Camping: No electricity -$10.00 / trailer / night. You may picket, use pens, or tie to your
trailer in this area. PLEASE BE
CONSIDERATE AND KEEP PENS TO A REASONABLE SIZE! THERE
ARE NOW A LIMITED NUMBER OF ELECTRIC HOOKUPS AVAILABLE IN THIS
AREA--CALL CAMP FOR RESERVATIONS!! The camp is not closed to
other riders, so make reservations early.

There are water hydrants in both camping areas. This camp has a
very nice restroom & shower facilities. There is also a large
dining hall we can use for meals & meetings. Your family and
crew can keep warm.
ALL FOUR LEGGED LIVING CREATURES (INCLUDING
DOGS) MUST BE ON LEASH(or rein) OR CONFINED IN A PEN OR TIED
UP!!!**** YOU MUST FOLLOW ANY AND ALL OTHER CAMP RULES!!
FOOD: Your ride entry includes the Friday night
meal (complete meal not a pot luck), no matter which day you
ride.
The following are available for purchase at
the camp:
Thursday Thanksgiving dinner (around 6 pm) $7.25
Breakfast Buffets: $5.50 per person (available Fri, Sat,
Sun)
Burgers & Fries or sandwiches for Lunch
Saturday Night Spaghetti Dinner: $7.25 per person
Start time: 50: as soon as its light enough, probably 6:30 am. The 25s will start about 1 hour later.
The trail: A lot of single track twisty, turny,
Ozark Hills (short but steep)..There are enough logging roads
& meadows to allow for safe passing & making good time. VERY
rocky in places, golf ball size & up, also some
flat rock & "steps". Shoes/pads or some type of
boots are strongly recommended. There probably wont
be a farrier in camp so be prepared! We have 2 different
long loops (16.5 & 17.5) and 1 short loop (8 miles). (As
measured from the trail-head ) Vet checks will all
be in camp. We reserve the right to change loops, etc. according
to conditions on ride day.
25 milers: Will do one long loop, have a vet check with a
hold, & then do the short loop.
50 milers: Will do one long loop, VC & hold, Then the
short loop & have a trot by, (maybe a pulse down), do the
short loop again, then a VC & hold, then the other long loop.
Rules: All AERC and OCER rules will apply.
The ride is open to any breed horse or mule. Equine must
be 60 months of age to enter to 50 mile ride, 48 months to enter
the 25. If you have no proof of age the judgement of the ride
veterinarian will be used. Maximum completion time for the 25 is
6 hours, 12 hours for the 50. This includes hold times to be
announced at the pre-ride meeting.
Use of any drugs is prohibited! This may
apply to some herbal/"natural" remedies. Ointments with
no pain killing ingredients are allowed. If in doubt, ask the
ride vet. Electrolytes, salt, and cooling, washes may be
used. All horses are subject to testing. . Junior
Riders: Riders under age 16 must be accompanied by an
adult ( age 21 or over) sponsor who agrees to remain with the
junior throughout the ride. Juniors MUST wear approved
head protection, (it is strongly recommended for all riders.) Ride
entry MUST be signed by Parent or LEGAL
guardian. Please get an entry form in advance if a parent will
not be at the ride!
All Veterinary decisions on a horse's fitness to start, continue, or complete the ride are final.
Any vet or farrier bills are to be paid by owner/rider at time of service.

**** PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, be considerate of other campers. Do not make an issue of the "loose dogs in camp thing". I can't control strays, or the camp's other guests. ENTERED RIDERS/HELPERS/ETC. however, will hear about it if their animal causes a problem in the camp, vet areas, food areas, etc.
